Each malaysian bride history carries with it a profound significance and meaning. While they may not every remain practiced immediately, it is important to remember that these rituals and ceremonies play a major role in the Malay people’s rich cultural heritage.

The Wedding Makes his way To The Bride’s House

Once the groom has received permission to enter the bride’s residence from her wali or kadi, he may be accompanied by a kompang ( cymbal- beating festival) adorned with bunga manggar, finger petals crafted of tinsel on bamboo poles that signify fertility and wealth. His friends and family may also carry bunga rampai, a potpourri of bouquets and papaya leaves that symbolize the woman’s blessings.

Before the wedding is allowed to see his wedding, he did be stopped by relatives and friends who will challenge him with duties for as reciting pantuns, forking out money, dancing or singing. This is known as the hadang or gatecrashing festival. Upon successfully completing these challenges, the man will be granted permission to enter the couple’s residence and receive her mas kahwin, a compulsory gift that signifies his duty to provide for her and his new family.

Once he has entered the house, the groom will be welcomed with a makan bersanding where guests and members of both families will serve the newlyweds. This is a chance for the family to thank them for their hospitality as well as to offer their best wishes and blessings to the couple.
